What would you do if you could call back in time and leave a message to your younger self?
When Amir discovers a phone booth that seems to magically appear on the corner in his neighborhood, he does everything he can to change the worst thing that ever happened to him and his family…
Also, I mentioned that I’d leave a link to Jennifer Moss’s novel, TOWN RED. Here it is!

Talking about alternate timelines always makes me wonder whether “nonsense” alternate timelines exist. And would they actually be “nonsense” in and of themselves? The mind wobbles. Gotta say the phone booth pee break was unexpected. XD And I was expecting Bebe to slip and crash to the ground, trading tragedy for tragedy. The happy conclusion (at least in other timelines) was uplifting. Just the right balance. Thanks for sharing this suspenseful story! 🙂

Maybe something bad would have happened if older Amir actually traveled back. Looper and Primer deal with the death thing quite well, but this was…I suppose a bit Back to the Future in that I didn’t explain everything and it had a happy ending…but still a nod to Primer, which was shot — in part — just blocks from Shawn Kupfer’s place in Richardson, Texas.
But I love the idea of nonsense alternate timelines, like…oh, the original version of this written during 1000 Words of Summer in which old Amir met up with family. I tried explaining it to Cynthia, and she was like, “I’m totally lost…maybe I’m missing something…”
So…that timeline got scrapped, and this happened 😉
