The Podcast
Not About Lumberjacks is an anthology fiction podcast written by Christopher Gronlund. The self-contained stories span genres, but typically fall into the following categories:
- Literary
- Humorous
- Speculative/Fantasy
- Quirky
A recurring theme in the stories is finding hope in the face of struggles. (With few exceptions, even the melancholy tales on Not About Lumberjacks are written to inspire listeners.)
While the stories can be about anything, Christopher makes one promise to the audience: he will never–ever–share a story about lumberjacks!
About Christopher
Christopher Gronlund is not a lumberjack — He is a Texas-based writer who writes and records short stories.
His non-fiction writing has appeared in major newspapers and national magazines.
When he’s not writing, he can usually be found hiking or canoeing with his wife, or pursuing a handful of hobbies as varied as the stories he tells.
Schedule
New stories are released every two to three months, with an anniversary episode each November and a Christmas episode composed of several shorter short stories in December.
Content Advisory
Each episode of Not About Lumberjacks contains a written content advisory–and most episodes have a spoken advisory before stories.
While there are a couple tales on the site that could be deemed all ages, most stories are meant for a mature audience. (Were Not About Lumberjacks stories a movie, most would carry a PG-13 or R rating, depending on the release.)
Use of AI/LLMs
Not About Lumberjacks does not use artificial intelligence (AI) or large language models (LLMs) in its production. All story ideas, writing, narration, content (Behind the Cut episodes, show notes, etc.), music, and artwork are created by humans.
How to Listen
Not About Lumberjacks is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and most major podcast platforms.
