Behind the Cut – Revisions

It’s not uncommon for people to assume stories are a reflection of the author — especially stories in which an author features a writer as a protagonist. “Revisions” is about a writer who was raised by a single mother. Some people who know me mentioned they felt it was heavily influenced by my mother.

I discuss where my life is similar to the protagonist in the story and…how our situations and views greatly differ.

Beautifully said. Like you, I was raised by a single mother who always encouraged and supported my art and writing. How lucky we are to have that foundation. 🙂

I was always aware how lucky I was in that regard, but the older I get, the more I realize how huge that support is. I know too many people who stopped doing the things they loved because parents demanded from them other things. As adults, so many of them are miserable and feel like it’s too late to get back to the things they loved. It’s tragic.
